Kolkata’s bustling bazaar can tempt many customers to get eccentric items for a bargain. Kolkata is famous for its foodie people and it has a rich culinary tradition in India. Kolkata is home to various delicious street food, Bengali sweet delicacies like Rasogolla, Sandesh, and so on which are famous all over the world. Kolkata has been unofficially declared a literary capital. It is the hometown of Rabindranath Tagore and various other influential figures. Kolkata is the only city in India where the tram is still running. The tram ride is the most delightful and unique experience that is only available in Kolkata. The Howrah Railway Junction Station was built in the year 1854 and is the busiest and oldest railway station in India. Kolkata’s pottery district Kumartuli is the best place for art lovers to visit.


Durga Puja was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on 21st April 2022. Its vigor is celebrated for 10 days throughout the world. This festival symbolizes the victory of goodness over evil. The main festival starts from Sasthi where the goddess is decorated with weapons, then Saptami, Ashtami, and Nabami and lasts till Dashami when Ma goes back to her original house to Kailash. However, the Bengali people start celebrating the festival from Mahalaya.
